Shadowy slippers

Forgotten footwear, Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, Southern California

She steps out of her slippers
And leaves them in the sand,
Making her way barefoot
Through this barren land.

I think those slippers belong to the little mermaid-her magic spell was about to wear off and she had to go back to the sea...
